It was in the autumn of 1980 when I spent my first night in the ”new” Big House of Čolović and found the beauty of its calm and positive energy that had always connected nature and life. In those days, the former hall that occupied the centre of the house had two large windows and two doors, and was used only for wedding, baptism and funeral occasions; people entered this hall very quietly when they had the real need of it, like in a case of bringing the grandpa something from his hunting closet.
Its walls were painted in blue plums and vine. It was rich yet not overfurnished, containing mirrors, crystal lamps, a chandelier, a round table with Grandpa’s trophies placed in the middle of the room, carved chairs with leather seating, benches along the wlls that were covered by carpets. One of the first Singer sewing machine, along with old photos in wooden frames hanging on the walls brought back the the memories of strength and power of the family that had built the house.
Thuja, constantly green and leaning on the old window was the symbol of life. Leafless trees, quinces, pumpkin and cucumber seeds, decorating dark window frames gave only the hints of the smells; linden was silently swinging in the middle of the yard, saying farewell to its yellow leaves...
We have revived and enriched this paradise because of its authentic beauty, for generations that are to come...

WELCOME TO KRAGUJEVAC
"Belgrade is Europe but if you want to visit a real Serbian town - go to Kragujevac."
Konstantin Jiricek in 1874
Kragujevac is the fourth largest city in Serbia, the main city of the Šumadija region and the administrative centre of Šumadija District. It is situated on the banks of the Lepenica River. According to official results of the 2011 census, the city has a population of 147,281 inhabitants, while municipality has a population of 177,468.
Kragujevac experienced a lot of historical turbulence, not always without severe casualties. Over 200 archaeological sites in Šumadija confirm that the region's first human settlements occurred 40,000 years ago, during the Paleolithic era. Kragujevac was first mentioned in the medieval period as related to the public square built in a settlement, while the first written mention of the city was in the Turkish Tapu-Defter in 1476.
Kragujevac was the first capital of modern Serbia (1818–1839), and the first constitution in the Balkans was proclaimed in this city in 1835. Apart from contemporary political influence, Kragujevac became the cultural and educational center of Serbia. Important institutions built during that time include Serbia's first secondary school (Gimnazija), first pharmacy, and first printing press. Kragujevac gave rise to many international scholars, professors, academics, scientists, artists and statesmen.
The circle of Prince Miloš
