The Hill House, Western Serbia
Location
The Village of Lis, features the classic terrain of the Dragačevo region, characterized by a rolling, hilly, and low-mountain landscape. Prominent regional peaks like Jelica, Ovčar, and Čemerno border the area. It rests at an altitude of approximately 584 meters above sea level, offering magnificent views. In surrounding regions: Ovčar-Kablar Gorge: Easily accessible to the north, the gorge features dramatic meanders of the West Morava River squeezed between the peaks of Ovčar and Kablar. It is famously home to a cluster of medieval Serbian Orthodox monasteries (often called the "Serbian Holy Mountain") and the glass-bottomed Viewpoint Kablar. Terzića Avlija Ethno Park: Located in the nearby village of Zlakusa, this award-winning rural household contains outdoor museum exhibitions, World War II-era classroom sets, and displays honoring three centuries of traditional pottery crafting. The Rzav River (Veliki Rzav) is easily incorporated into your plans, as it runs just southwest of the Dragačevo region through the neighboring Arilje municipality. Widely celebrated as one of the cleanest and clearest rivers in Serbia, the Rzav serves as the ultimate natural swimming destination near Lis. Its banks are lined with beautifully manicured, eco-friendly river beaches and rustic beach bars that blend perfectly into the wilderness. The Hill House will have a local written guide with historical monuments and nature features upon your arrival.
